Master Lu’s Health Center in South Salt Lake, Utah is the premier center to learn the ancient art of Tai Chi. Tai Chi is an ancient form of Chinese exercise and self-defense design to improve physical health, decrease stress and bring unity to mind, body, and spirit. It has been practiced in China for about 3,000 years.
Tai Chi uses martial arts movements performed very slowly in order to improve balance, coordination, and strength. It is often called “moving meditation.” Tai Chi is a beautiful flowing set of exercises that improve flexibility, coordination, balance and cardiovascular fitness, also offering the practitioner a repertoire of movements useful in self-defense. There have been recent studies that have shown Tai Chi to be beneficial for the immune system, arthritis, heart failure, and Parkinson’s. Tai Chi is not only moving mediation but according to Harvard Medical School it is also “moving medication.”
Tai Chi is an ideal form of exercise, as it is gentle, fun and easy to do for people of all ages, yet can be very challenging to people of all levels of ability. Our classes have a range of age groups of both men and women with some of the oldest students being about 89 years old.
Master Lu teaches the Old Yang Style Tai Chi passed down from Grandmaster Yin Chian Ho. This style of Tai Chi is unique and very traditional. The movements in Master Lu’s Tai Chi are done in such a way that it will develop your energy and balance, as well as develop your internal organs.
At Master Lu’s Health Center, we will also teach you Tai Chi sword and pushing hands. Both Tai Chi sword and pushing hands are more advanced levels of training.
